Active Release Technique (ART®)
Overused muscles can cause scar tissue to develop, resulting in spasms, nerve entrapment, pain, weakness, inflammation, and restricted range of motion. Active Release Technique corrects the soft tissue restriction resolving a multitude of conditions.
What is Active Release Technique?
Active Release Technique, also referred to as ART, is a patented state-of-the-art soft tissue therapy devised to precisely locate and alleviate muscle, tendon, ligament, fascia, nerve, and soft-tissue concerns. This non-invasive treatment has been around since 1984, when it was first used by Dr. P. Michael Leahy to treat athletes for various musculoskeletal conditions.
What to Expect During an ART Treatment
During an ART session the doctor will palpate to find irregularities in tissue texture, tension, and movement. Once the root cause is identified they will have the patient actively move, while applying precise pressure to the affected area. This allows the doctor to feel the structure during movement and breaks up the damaged tissue, allowing for restored mobility and re-establishing proper blood flow to the area for healing.
