Gait Analysis

Gait evaluation and movement assessment can be completed on an individual basis to help devise a corrective exercise strategy and to improve movement impairments. Gait evaluation as well as specific joint movement assessments are valuable tools in assessing and evaluating a patient's overall kinetic chain. A kinetic chain is a valuable link in establishing movement dysfunction in the skeletal structures.

A gait evaluation can be completed in a number of ways including visual inspection, standing postural evaluation, treadmill analysis with walking and/or running, and individual joint movement assessments evaluating the joint structures through its complete range of motion. Often times, a gait evaluation can be videotaped to help facilitate the patient understanding the specific abnormality and the possible corrective exercise and/or treatment parameters.
